Yesterday was our 46th wedding anniversary. Among other things, we went kayaking at the Urban Surf Co. in Tecumseh. Not quite a gondola in Venice but lots of fun. It was a great day for both of us but our question was – where have the 46 years gone? So a shout out to all of you – enjoy every minute you have together, the years go by quickly.
I gave Crystal a card (one I bought) which sums up what I believe a relationship is all about. It read: “On the journey of life, it is not where you’re going, but who you’re going with that matters.” We have had many great journeys and plan many more, but the key, for me, is who I am with.
Crystal’s card to me (which she made, artist that she is) was a compilation of pictures from 46 years ago along with a card I had sent her back then. The card is a picture of a couple, with a piece – like a puzzle piece – missing. The card reads” “We have everything we need”. On the inside of the card, the missing puzzle piece is there with the words “It will be fun to get it all together.” I’m sure we still don’t have it all together but it has been a fun ride and we really have had everything we needed to make it so, because we have had each other.
Going back to how quickly the time goes by, remember: “It is not where you’re going, but who you’re going with that matters.” Nurture that relationship and enjoy the ride.
